Canister Guide
Preserve family history in a time capsule
Gather oral histories, scanned photos, and genealogy notes — then seal them for children or grandchildren to open on a date you choose.
Stories that should not live only in memory
Family history fades when it stays in one person's head. A family history time capsule collects names, migration stories, recipes, and photos into one encrypted archive with a deliberate unlock.
Attach scans and recordings
Legacy tier supports up to ten files (5 MB each, 50 MB total) — enough for photo sets, PDF scans, and short audio clips. All attachments are encrypted before upload.
Decentralized storage for long horizons
Canister targets long-horizon retention on the Internet Computer. Unlock dates can be decades ahead so grandchildren receive the archive when they are ready.
Common questions
Can multiple relatives contribute to one capsule?
One creator owns each capsule. You can compile contributions into a single archive before sealing, or create separate capsules per branch of the family.
What file types can I include?
Common image, document, and media formats within plan size limits. Very large video libraries may need selective curation.
How long is content available after unlock?
Legacy capsules remain accessible for one year after unlock. Download archives during that window.
