Canister Guide

Write a letter to your son that unlocks when it matters most

A letter to your son can carry advice, pride, and love across years — sealed now and delivered on the birthday, graduation, or milestone you choose.

Why a time-locked letter beats a saved draft

Most parents mean to write that letter someday. A saved note in your phone or email can be edited, lost, or forgotten. Canister lets you compose a letter to your son today, encrypt it client-side with AES-256-GCM, and set an unlock date years ahead.

When the date arrives, your son receives access through a shareable key — not a fragile link in a group chat. Capsule ownership and unlock state are recorded on the Internet Computer for transparency.

What to include in a letter to your son

Parents often write about values they hope will stick, stories from their own childhood, or encouragement for challenges ahead. With the Signature plan you can attach photos or a short video alongside unlimited text. Legacy supports horizons up to 50 years for messages meant to span generations.

How Canister protects your message

Canister is built for future delivery, not everyday file sync. You choose the unlock date, share access details when you are ready, and optional reminder emails can notify your son or you as the date approaches. Pricing is one-time per capsule — no subscription.

Common questions

Can I write a letter to my son that unlocks on his 18th birthday?

Yes. Set the unlock date to his 18th birthday when you create the capsule. You can send reminder emails to yourself or to him (with permission) as the date approaches.

Is a letter to my son private before it unlocks?

Message content is encrypted on your device before upload. Until unlock conditions are met, recipients cannot read the letter.

Can I attach photos to a letter for my son?

On the Signature plan ($12 one-time) you can attach up to five files (3 MB each). Legacy ($39 one-time) supports up to ten files (5 MB each) and unlock horizons up to 50 years.
